Abhinava Bharata Gurukula at SVYASA society proudly launches the Special Program for Examinations and Certification (SPEC), a visionary initiative to revive and institutionalize the traditional Gurukula system in performing arts education.

What Is SPEC?

  • SPEC – Special Program for Examinations and Certification ensures that knowledge is passed down with precision, maintaining the purity and essence of each art form.
  • A structured, multi-level certification system for Indian performing arts:
    • Level 1 - Pravesha (Introductory)
    • Level 2 - Parichaya (Familiarization)
    • Level 3 - Praudha (Intermediate)
    • Level 4 - Kovida (Advanced)
  • Open to a wide range of disciplines:
    • Classical dance – Bharatanatya, Kathak and Kuchipudi
    • Vocal music – Karnataka Sangita
    • Instrumental music – Flute, Veene, Violin
    • Light Music – Laghu Sangita

Objective

To conduct diverse examinations in performing arts connecting to Indian Knowledge System.

Purpose

The purpose is to cultivate interest in performing arts and assess their talent through a systematic valuation that nurtures their passion for the arts.

Eligibility Criteria to apply for exams for Students

Level 1 - Pravesha exam

Age of the student should be 10 years(as on the date of submission)

Should have at least two years of training

To attach:

  • Study certificate
  • Training certificate from the Teacher or Institution

Level 2 Parichaya exam

Three years of gap between Level 1 to level 2

If appearing directly to Level 2, they should complete 15 years of age and five years of training

To attach:

  • Birth certificate and SSLC marks card
  • Training certificate from the Teacher or Institution

Level 3 Praudha exam

Three years of gap between Level 2 to level 3

If appearing directly to Level 3, they should complete 18 years of age

Eight years of training in respective field

To attach:

  • Birth certificate and PUC or Diploma marks card
  • Training certificate from the Teacher or Institution

Level 4 Kovida exam

One year gap between Level 3 to level 4

If appearing directly to Level 4, they should complete 20 years of age

Ten years of training in respective field

To attach:

  • Birth certificate and Bachelor degree Convocation certificate
  • Training certificate from the Teacher or Institution
  • Candidate can appear for only one exam in a year.

Teacher/ Examiner/ Teacher and Examiner’s Application

1. Level 1 - Pravesha exam examiner – Should have completed UG/Pre/Post Vidwath level exam

2. Level 2 - Parichaya examiner - Should have completed PG/5 years’ experience after Post Vidwath

3. Level 3 - Praudha and Level 4 - Kovida examiners - Should have completed PG (mandatory)/PhD/Senior Gurus/10 years of experience after Post Vidwath.

Teachers registration fees – Rs 250/-

Examiners registration fees – Rs 250/-

Teachers and Examiners registration fees – Rs 400/-

Institution registration fees – Rs 400/-

Level- 1 - Pravesha registration fees – Rs 1200

Level- 2 - Parichaya registration fees – Rs 1500/-

Level- 3 - Praudha registration fees – Rs 1800/-
